A Pretty Dress for a Wedding
I had originially seen a dress at Kohl's, and while I can't find the exact dress on line THIS ONE is kind of like it. Same style.
I really liked it, but it was too short, and obviously not modest enough with the sleeveless bodice.
I found this fabric at Joann's, and decided to try and make my own.
It went together surprisingly well. The bodice went together in less than an hour. The pattern I used had a straight skirt option and a pleated skirt option. I did neither, and adapted the pleated skirt to be an A-Line. I then added a white underskirt, and the black tulle ruffle/can-can at the bottom, and the black band around the waist for added style. I really like it, and will wear it to a wedding that is going to be at the end of this month.
The one small thing that I am still unsure about, and might attempt to fix, is the zipper in the back. I put it in an invisible zipper, and with an invisible zipper, you are not supposed to be able to see the zipper at all, just a nice seam down the back. Well, I don't have an invisible zipper foot for for my sewing machine, just a regular zipper foot, so I can't sew as close to the zipper teeth as you are supposed to, therefore there is a white stripe down the back of the dress, as you can tell in the second picture. I am not sure what I can do to try and fix this, but I'll see.

The Concert - Take 2
This is the same concert video posted in the previous post, except it is uploaded on a different site, do the fact that Mrs. Dueck said that some of her blog readers couldn't see the video because you have to have an account on facebook to see it. So here it is, uploaded to Vimeo.

The Concert
yay, finally got it uploaded on Facebook!
We changed our name, in case you might notice. Daughters of Abiagael because "The Three Maidens" or "Maidens in White" or whatever it was before sounded too much like Maidens IV, and we aren't as good as they are, obviously, hehe. :-)
This is our longest concert...15 minutes, whew! We actually performed it for a live audience, but couldn't film it then because a little boy kept wanting to see his face in the camera :-) so we filmed it later by ourselves.
~ Star of the County Down ~ Scarborough Fair ~ Millionaire's Hoedown (this is my favorite!) ~ Amazing Grace ~ Abiagael's Tune (I wrote this one) ~
P.S. The sound on "Abiagael's Tune" is kind of odd. I think it's because the camera picked up the shaker more than the guitar, and they kind of canceled each other out.

Lucy's Jumper
I was watching the season 4 episode of I Love Lucy - "Lucy Visits Grauman's" on Youtube, and I fell in love with this jumper that Lucy was wearing in the 2nd scene. It looks like it's made out of wool or something, and it has some delightful little details...buttons, tabs, pleats, pockets, a belt, the works. I took some screenshots, but they aren't great since I did this on Youtube and they are Black and White.
Full-view of the front:

Closeups of the front:

A not-very-good view of the back (there is a pleat, or a hidden slit or something in the center back)

I'd love to have a jumper like that.

The Past Week - Two Videos
Chad, Kristina, and Mom and the Giant Tower:
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing, Sunday Night family worship:
Charity, Kristina, and I did a concert as well, per tradition, and it's the longest concert we've ever done (the video is 15 minutes long) and I can't upload it to Youtube because Youtube's rules are no video over 10 minutes, and Facebook doesn't like it because it's too long, so it's taking ages to upload, so you might get to see it...someday. But for now you'll have to be happy with those two videos. ;-)

The Past Week
We've had three kids here for the past week while their parents and older brother were in Russia for a missions trip. (Little Loaves and Fishes). My best friend of 10 years, Charity, her 10-year-old Russian-adopted sister Kristina, and little brother 4-year-old Chad came and stayed from Saturday to Saturday (yesterday). Mom got to be a supermom for a week, and she did pretty good. Apart from one day that featured a couple meltdowns, everything went well.
So here are some pictures documenting our past week:
Chad's Tower:

Chad loved blowing bubbles

Chad and I, playing Club Penguin

Chad on his "Fast Trike" with Kristina

Kristina trying out the trike

Kristina Hula-Hooping:

All 3 Kids

Charity

Accidental picture taken with the self-timer. We figured we'd make the best of it.

Videos are coming next.
